The 2008 SBMC Selects were a case of what might have been. The team had a legitimate shot at a 3-peat for the U13 A Division Club Championship title as 9 of the players on the roster were returning from the previous season's B & C Provincial Championship squads. Instead the Selects started to unravel near the end of the Metro League season and then limped into the provincials with a lineup depleted by player defections, illness and injuries. Key pickups, Michael Aranzaso and Paul Lim, made major contributions to the team's eventual fifth place finish at the Club Championships.
