The 2001 SBMC team was dominated by Milos Jeftic who was arguably the top player in the province at the U13 age group. There were a handful of teams that had a shot at the title, but the Saints and South Burnaby were considered the favorites. Unfortunately, South Burnaby had to face the Saints, the Catholic school system's all-star team, in the semi finals. They had been the only Canadian team to defeat the Eagles all season when we were at full strength. The Saints effectively used the 6 foot defensive rule which was in force at the time to take Milos out of the game when they had the ball. Our remaining 4 defenders could not match up with their 4 players and they pulled away at the end of the game for the victory. Milos Jeftic ended up scoring 92 of the team's 221 points but it was still only good enough for a second consecutive third place finish at the Provincials.
